It has a 5.5L V8 to go with the 55 name.

Yup until in a couple years they'll change the name to SLK 65 and it'll have a 4.9L v8.

Respect.
The "Jalop edition" 320i holds to the old formula, even if it's not naturally aspirated...

As someone with a SLK chassis, when are they going to stop selling this thing?
I never see any. Granted I don't live in LA but I see 911's, SL, C7s, etc. waaaayyy more. The new AMG GT is roughly the same size and will probably sell better.

Should be the 320ti

Yours is 2 generations of platform older, but no, I don't think they'll ever stop selling the slk.

If they tried the same idea with a new Crossfire, and actually did it well with a 5.7 HEMI, that'd be quite the little machine!

ti = Turismo Internazionale, not turbo inside
It could be 320 Turbo (like the 2002), I suppose. What was the 2nd turbo-engined road car that BMW built?

I always thought that it was turbo (fuel)injected.

Well yea I know that, my point was I should be a fan and therefore not want them to stop.
But only what? 30k sales worldwide when the latest generation hit the roads in 2011? Thats not good.

The earliest had dual carbs:
"An 1800 TI (Turismo Internazionale) model featured components developed for the 1800 by the tuning company Alpina. [26] The upgrades included dual Solex PHH side-draft carburetors and higher-compression pistons for 110 hp (82 kW) at 5,800 revolutions per minute and 100 lbft (136 Nm) at 4,000 revolutions per minute. [27] "

Bonus points if you know what the "g" in 316g stands for...

It's the same story for the Z4 and I think the Audi TT.
This is a niche market.

You're missing 2 years worth of data there, and what other small convertible does Mercedes sell?
That's right, it's their only one and the Germans do not abandon niches, especially not when there is a new tt and soon to be a new Z4/2.

Yeah I know that now, but before today I had just assumed that they went with logical naming.

natural gas?
I don't fucking know anymore.
Damn germans.

You got it - CNG. Just 70 cents per gallon-equiv. in Saskatoon!

"Germans do not abandon niches" I guess enough said.
(thats all the data wiki gives)

Well, good call. Everyone's sales are down.

I see them frequently, and I don't mean the ones coming through my shop. And it rains 10 months of the year here.
